Florio et Cinzano, Cappiello, 1930

Two zebras, one blue and one red, leap for two bottles.

What

A 1930 Cappiello poster for Florio marsala and Cinzano vermouth, sold together as les meilleurs apéritifs, printed by Devambez.

Why

Two brands shared one wall, so Cappiello gave each a zebra.

Notice

The stripes are painted in the brands' own colours, and the yellow shape behind the bottles reads as light rather than ground.

“A two-metre sheet from the last year this house can clear, and one of the latest Cappiellos on the wall.”

Format
