St Raphaël Quinquina, Belon, 1890

A whole café terrace, and one giant bottle in the middle of it.

What

Why

The copy calls it consommation hygiénique, and promises un verre avant chaque repas, c'est un brevet de longue vie.

Notice

Behind the bottle a waiter carries a tray, and a sign on the far wall reads ABSINTHE AMERS.

“The apéritif hour as a crowd scene, painted the year before the posters got simple.”
