Amer Paranteau, F. Boulanger, 1887

A bottle lying on its medals.

What

An anonymous 1887 poster for Amer Paranteau, sold through its sole concessionary F. Boulanger at 128 and 130 rue des Couronnes, Paris, lithographed by F. Appel.

Why

Before the figure took over, the bottle and its prizes were the whole advertisement.

Notice

A red ribbon winds around the bottle, and the scroll at the right announces a Grand Diplôme d'Honneur.

“A rue des Couronnes bitter, sold on its prizes.”

This brand was gone from the market. Everything sold here is the art, not the drink.
