Couple with a Bock of Beer, Vienna, c. 1890

A stock poster with the brewery's name left blank.

What

An unlettered beer poster printed by J. Weiner in Vienna between 1890 and 1900, kept by the Bibliothèque nationale de France.

Why

Printers sold sheets like this to any brewery, which then overprinted its own name in the empty sky.

Notice

The space at upper right and the small empty box at the foot were left for the buyer's words.

“No brand ever claimed this one, so the beer is simply beer.”

Format

Sized to protect print quality — this scan supports sizes up to 18x24" cleanly.

This brand was no longer in the market. Everything sold here is the art, not the drink.
