Brasseries de la Meuse, Ehrhardt Frères, 1891

A river goddess pours the Meuse into the brewery.

What

An anonymous 1891 poster for the Brasseries de la Meuse, formerly Maison Ehrhardt Frères, with works at Bar-le-Duc and Sèvres, printed by F. Champenois.

Why

Six years before Mucha, the same brewery and the same printer chose a classical figure and a view of the plant.

Notice

The water from her urn runs down into a panorama of chimneys, rail sidings and the long works building.

“The before picture to Mucha's 1897 sheet, from the same press.”
