Brasserie Franco-Strasbourgeoise, Paul Seyboth & Co, 1882

Strasbourg on one side, Bar-le-Duc on the other, a full glass between.

What

A poster drawn by A. Favier for the Brasserie Franco-Strasbourgeoise of Paul Seyboth & Co, printed by D. Hutinet in Paris in 1882.

Why

The dates over the arch read 1789 and 1882, and the two coats of arms flank a brewer who moved his trade across a new border.

Notice

The pillars list the trade: usine à vapeur, bière bock, caves glacières, bière de conserve.

“A beer label carrying the map of a lost province.”

Format

Published 1882, before the 1930 cutoff; maker Favier, A. (18..-.... ; dessinateur). Illustrateur; Commons reads Public domain with {{CC-Zero}} {{Cc-zero}} {{Gallica}} {{PD-US}} {{SDC-PD-US}}. BnF Gallica scan: BnF asks for a licence for commercial reuse of its reproductions; flag for legal sign-off (the house already sells seven Gallica scans). Mark status dead is the registrar's reading of an old mark; no trademark search was run, so confirm before launch.

This brand was gone from the market. Everything sold here is the art, not the drink.
