← The Lost Breweries

Bières de la Meuse, Sèvres et Bar-le-Duc, 1898

A rider in a boater takes a beer from a girl in red.

What

A poster for the beers of La Meuse, brewed at Sèvres and Bar-le-Duc, printed by F. Champenois, 66 boulevard Saint-Michel, Paris, in 1898; the BnF sheet measures 150 by 102 cm.

Why

The house already holds La Meuse in Mucha's hand; this is the brewery's other face, a country inn on a summer day.

Notice

The inn sign reads LA MEUSE, the grey horse stands patient, and the girl's red dress is the brightest thing on the sheet.

“The same brewery, sold as a ride in the country.”

BnF Gallica scan: BnF asks for a licence for commercial reuse of its reproductions; flag for legal sign-off (the house already sells Gallica scans). Mark status dead is the registrar's reading of an old mark; no trademark search was run, so confirm before launch.

This brand was gone from the market. Everything sold here is the art, not the drink.
